On behalf of the Gabriela Mistral Foundation and our Chairman, Ambassador Heraldo Munoz, the Organizing Committee and our sponsors: Msgr. Robert Ritchie, Rector of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the Archdioceses of New York; Msgr. Fernando Chomali, Auxiliary Bishop of Santiago, and the Archdioceses of Santiago; the Consulate General of Chile in New York; ProChile, the Trade Commission of Chile; Easter Island Travel Service; Pomaire Restaurant; Jorge Tacla, who brilliantly designed the two beautiful posters—one of which is for sale here tonight; Valentina Garcia Mekis, whose dedication and work in organizing this concert is evident in every detail, and our very own … Veronica Villarroel, who dared to dream of having a benefit concert for her beloved Chile and whose dream … is today a reality …. We welcome you to tonight’s concert.
We also acknowledge the presence of Ambassador Octavio Errazuriz, Chile’s new Permanent Representative to the United Nations; the Honorable Patricio Damm, Consul General of Chile in New York; Ambassador Maria Luiza Ribeiro, Permanent Representative of Brazil to the United Nations.
The proceeds of tonight’s concert, in their entirety, will be channeled through the Gabriela Mistral Foundation, a non-for profit foundation incorporated in the State of New York, to benefit Maria Reina de la Paz Parish in Santiago.
Most especially we thank each and every one of you… for your support and presence here tonight. … It is by you being here that this concert is a success. Chile has suffered an unimaginable catastrophe … a lot has been done so far … but there is still so much to be done! And we can do it together. Thank you and enjoy!
