On behalf of the Board of the Gabriela Mistral Foundation I want to thank you for your support and interest in the Humanitarian Mission to Chile of International Surgical Mission Support which was done in collaboration of our Foundation. I was asked to handle this project on behalf of the Foundation.  I should like to take a moment to share with you some details about the Mission which gave me the privilege of being with an outstanding group of human beings-- the members of Team NY of ISMS-- during the mission to Chile.

Donation of Reading Glasses

Continuing with our mission to promote reading in Chile, in a special project with Fundacion Habia Una Vez in Chile, the Gabriela Mistral Foundation has delivered 200 reading glasses of different strenghts to Chile. The reading glasses were delivered to the offices of Fundacion Habia Una Vez in Santiago  on April 15, 2013.

Donation of 5 Mistralian Corners

Continuing with the legacy of Gabriela Mistral and our mission, the Gabriela Mistral Foundation in alliance with Fundacion Habia una Vez will deliver five ”Rincones Mistralianos” in the communities of: Guayacan, Los Andes, Peñalolen, Villarica y Museo de Valparaiso. Delivery of all  the “Rincones Mistralianos” will be completed by mid-June 2013.

Donation of Medical Equipment to Hospital de Curanilahue and Medicos del Aire

In December 2012, the Gabriela Mistral Foundation received a request from Medicos del Aire, a humanitarian medical group from Concepcion. The group, a volunteer organization, was formed after the 2010 earthquake, in order to provide much needed medical care -consultations- to people in need living in remote areas who are not able to travel to the city to see a doctor.
